Match Report
Finborough School Girls-U9B vs  Ipswich School
On: Friday, 25 Mar 2022
Venue: Away

This end of season round-robin tournament was perhaps the toughest test we have faced, but also highlighted just how far the girls have come this term, both individually and collectively. Uncomfortably warm and in very bright sunshine, the girls worked really hard for each other, tackling strongly and using the skills they have learned to try to progress play up the field and score. Despite some brilliant individual and team defending, and some excellent positioning from Ava in goal, Ipswich managed to score two good goals to win the first game, and that was probably fair, as they did pose us some problems.

The game against Culford was very even and well contested by both teams, with chances at both ends. Some crucial saves by Ava and tackles by Jess and her fellow midfielders and defenders kept Culford at bay, but they equally did a great job of denying us any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities, leaving us only half-chances. The resulting draw was a fair result, neither team deserving to lose. Some really useful lessons learned, and some important steps taken in terms of individual leadership, tactical awareness and communication.

It has been a pleasure coaching the girls all season, and Mrs Konrath, Mrs Daynes and I couldn't be more proud of them.

There will be a Tuesday lunchtime club for them to continue their development during the summer term, and a hockey camp that they can sign up to over the summer holidays, watch this space!
