Match Report
Finborough School Boys-U9A vs  St Joseph's College, Ipswich
On: Monday, 15 Nov 2021
Venue: Away

This was an utterly stunning performance from a real footballing team. After going behind to a brace of well worked solo goals from St Joseph's in the opening 10 minutes, the Finborough boys really dug in, found their passing game and worked together to overrun their opposition.

Ordinarily I like to run through the match picking out something good about individual performances but today's result is such a team victory that I'm going to keep that to a minimum. Each and every player impressed with not only their desire to be on the ball and part of the play, but also with their mental toughness, resilience, adaptability and willingness to listen to coaching points. Many of the team's goal came from well worked passing play involving three or four players at a time, and defensively all players showed a want and determination to be responsible and get stuck in even in the absence of stalwarts Leo Moody and Sully Grooms.

Special mentions do need to go to Seb Wells for netting a hattrick, James Beswick for leading by example as captain with his incisive passing and Ronaldo-like running with the ball, and Ted Youngman for turning the tide of the game at 2-0 down, coming off the bench and linking up midfield and attack to move the ball quickly for numerous goals.

If the boys can keep this up for the rest of the season then they look set to finish the season as a high flying team of already impressive yet still developing young footballers who are a match for any opposition.
