Match Report
Finborough School Girls-U17A vs  Woodbridge School
On: Tuesday, 28 Sep 2021
Venue: Away

The game was played in thirds - the first third provided a demonstration of some glorious text book hockey. The ball was splayed accurately and quickly out to the wings and then back into the D; including some lovely strong base line runs from Fee. The first goal came from a strong short corner hit from Liv and the second a beautifully timed pass from Alice into captain Esme for a strong sweep into the corner of the goal! The second third saw more attacking down the middle of the pitch which was less effective and really relied on the strength and tenacity of some key players! Sophie K, Esme, Jess were key players in this!

The final third again benefitted from long balls delivered to players in space and some quick and decisive stick work from players in defence; Teal, Lara and Grace deserve special mention here. One player who was impressive in so many aspects of her game today was Livi Jackson. Showing great elimination skills; passing, hit outs and shooting! Liv Newcombe was a tenacious tackler who always stepped towards the ball! She was a real loss when she fell on her arm and had to be subbed off! Fee was her usual strong force and was awesome in the D scoring 4 goals in total. Players who particularly impressed the opposition were Esme and Sophie Williams in goal. Overall a great team performance.
