Finborough School Boys-U9A vs  Holmwood House Preparatory School
On: Monday, 04 Oct 2021
Venue: at Home

In the return leg of last weeks fixture, Finborough U9 A team faced off against Holmwood House again determined to exact retribution on a challenging opponent. Sully “Ronaldo” Grooms saw that the team made an impactful start, latching onto a Seb Wells pass and slotting a cultured finish past a despairing Holmwood Keeper. Jacob Ford battled valiantly for possession, pinging Pogba-esque passes across the pitch while James Beswick was a constant thorn in the side of the opposition defence. It wasn’t long before Grooms produced another peach of a strike to double the Finborough lead, building on the firm defensive footing built by the irrepressible Leo Moody and a confident and calm Kian O’Dwyer on his A team debut for the year. We went into the break 2-0 up and confident…

The second half was a much more hotly contested affair with Holmwood creating chances and Finborough defending resolutely. However despite their best efforts, Holmwood struggled to break the Finborough line, with Hongbo, Isaac, Ted W and Ted Y all making telling contributions to the fixture. It wasn’t until an unfortunate own goal and dubious penalty decision that the visitors found the back of the Finborough net leaving the final score 2-2.

Overall it was another excellent performance with improved passing play and positional awareness from all Finborough players, holding much promise for the rest of the season to come.
